I’m starting a new category for shit I like. They’re high quality, affordable (though not the cheapest), and are made to last you years.

In 2011, I brought lunch to work in a plastic container. Though it said ‘Microwaveable’ on the container, I noticed my food tasted weird. My coworker, who had a Pyrex food storage, told me to stick with glass.

After that, I’ve always been about glass food storage. You can microwave it, leave it in the fridge, use a knife to cut a steak in it, and some can even be baked with. They’re also easy to clean. Best part is there is no weird after taste when you heat it in a microwave.

On a side-by-side comparison, any plastic container may look like the better value since it’s cheaper, but they’ll eventually breakdown and tossed in the trash. For years of use, definitely stick with glass. I’ve had Pyrex for more than 6 years and they’re still going strong. I love these things.

Spend the extra few bucks and get a Pyrex. If you’re on a really tight budget, I’ve found some Pyrex food storage in thrift stores. You can also check if there’s a CorningWare Outlet near you. That’ll definitely be the most bang for your buck.
