I finally did something today that I’ve been wanting to do for a while: I donated money to a charity! Though my donation is pretty minuscule, over time I plan to donate more to causes I believe in (in addition to my local church) after I get through the last of my debt.
What’s even more cool is I utilized my company’s “Partners in Giving” program where they match your donation to non-profits. The organization can’t be a school or a religious program, but they cover pretty much everything else.
I have to say it feels pretty good. I’ve been listening to a lot of Dave Ramsey lately, and have been reading more books on personal finance. I’m currently reading The Millionaire Next Door.
Aside from extreme budgeting and having your money work for you, the other message I’ve been getting from learning more about personal finances is to be a more giving person. It doesn’t have to necessarily be money; it can also be donating your time.
Cheers to being a better you!
